Why Wisconsin Drivers Choose Astel
Our owner is a former truck driver who built the company he wished existed. 18 years later — we're still growing and still treating drivers like people, not numbers.
Wisconsin: America's Dairyland Runs on Reefers
About a quarter of America's cheese is made in Wisconsin — and every pound of it moves at a controlled temperature. For a reefer carrier like Astel, Wisconsin isn't just a state, it's a permanent source of freight.
🛣️ Major Wisconsin Freight Hubs
The Milwaukee–Chicago corridor is one dense chain of distribution centers, and the Fox Valley around Green Bay is a national center of food and paper processing.
🌡️ Wisconsin Climate & Reefer Demand
Dairy doesn't take a season off. Cheese, butter, and frozen food ship out of Wisconsin every week of the year — in July heat and January deep freeze alike.
Summer: Hot, humid stretches put every dairy load on strict
temperature control from plant to DC.
Winter: Snow and −20°F cold snaps — freeze-sensitive loads
switch the reefer into heating mode, and experienced winter drivers earn their
reputation.
Year-round: Cheese plants, frozen-food lines, and cranberry
processing keep refrigerated volume flowing in both directions.
🚦 Your Wisconsin Lanes with Astel
Wisconsin sits right on top of our Chicago base — Milwaukee to the yard is about 90 minutes down I-94. Loads run west on I-90/94 toward Minneapolis and Denver and south into the full Midwest network. Be ready to run all 48 contiguous states.
