Why Utah Drivers Choose Astel
Our owner is a former truck driver who built the company he wished existed. 18 years later — we're still growing and still treating drivers like people, not numbers.
Utah: Crossroads of the West
Salt Lake City has carried the nickname "Crossroads of the West" since the railroad era — today it's where I-15 meets I-80, and where distribution centers restock most of the Intermountain West within a day's drive.
🛣️ Major Utah Freight Hubs
Nearly all of Utah lives along the Wasatch Front — a 120-mile strip from Ogden to Provo where the state's warehouses, people, and freight concentrate.
🌡️ Utah Climate & Reefer Demand
High desert with real seasons: blazing dry summers, snowy mountain winters — and refrigerated freight both ways through all of it.
Summer: 100°F valley heat — dairy, produce, and grocery
loads into the Wasatch Front DCs run entirely on refrigeration.
Winter: Lake-effect snow and mountain passes — freeze-sensitive
freight rides in protect-from-freeze mode while ski-season demand keeps
grocery volume high.
Year-round: As the restocking point for the Intermountain West,
Salt Lake's reefer volume doesn't take seasons off.
